UWA Superstars: Downcast

Background: Few new arrivals can match the impact that Downcast made upon debuting in the UWA. Since his first appearance at SlamFest 2, where he cost Rage a match against his rival Enygma, the eyes of the wrestling world have been on the self-styled "Mr. UWA." Downcast managed to go 6 months without having being pinned, achieving repeated--albeit controversial--wins over big names like Rage, Lightning, and even Panther. Downcast's early success caught the eye of Francine, who, noticing a seeming downturn in Ice Cube's career, was apparently contemplating bringing Downcast in as the new face of the Enterprise. Eager to protect his spot, Ice Cube went after Downcast vigorously, leaving Francine caught in the middle of a rivalry between two of the federation's top heels. Yet Downcast was able to come out on top at Apocalypse Now 2005, seemingly winning the services of the Queen of the Enterprise. Rather than accept her offer, Downcast shocked the world by delivering his Total Despair finisher to Francine, leaving she and her once-powerful organization for dead.

Perhaps Downcast's most significant rivalry came in the Summer of 2006 when he became romantically involved with Diamond, Panther's estranged wife. The union didn't sit too well with the Champion of Champions, and the subsequent bitterness spilled over into the ring. The two met in the finals of the 2006 Patriot Gamez tournament, which saw Panther pin Downcast to earn the Universal Title match against Enygma at Hell on Earth. Panther would go on to win the title, yet due to the disputed ending of their tournament match, he was forced to defend the title against Downcast two days later on In High Gear. That night, Diamond played a central role in the outcome, as she was the unfortunate victim of an errant chairshot from her estranged husband. The distraught Panther had no time to mourn his mistake, for Downcast quickly capitalized by hitting Total Despair and ending Panther's Championship reign. Already the Intercontinental Champion going into the match, Downcast would become the very first person to hold both the Universal and Intercontinental Titles simultaneously.

The quintessential egomaniac, Downcast believes himself to be a living legend in the UWA. While fans may decry his tactics, his accomplishments during his first two years make it hard to argue with his boastfull claims.
